Description

This class is designed to help adults step into the world of acting either professionally or as a part time hobby.   The Adult Acting class is run similar to professional classes in NYC and LA, students work on scenes and monologues and often bring in audition material to prepare for  future auditions.  While the primary technique taught in this class is Meisner Technique, other influences include: Stella Adler, Viola Spolin, Terry Schreiber, Barrow Group, and Stanislavski. Students develop the skill to listen to their acting partner as well as their instinct and truthfully re-act to what has been said.

Recital

If students decide to have a recital the final 1/2 hour of class, June 3rd at 8:30 PM, will be a presentation of the scenes worked on in class.

Additional Information

Spring classes run for 8 weeks, from April 8th through June 3rd.

In the event a class is canceled due to inclement weather the make-up class will be held on June 10th.

Grades 6 through 12

Description

Exercise your “actor muscles” through improvisation, theater games, cold reading, prepared readings, commercial copy and  monologues.  This class is designed to help students step into the world of auditioning for commercials, plays, TV and film while gaining confidence and strength in who they are.  Students recognize the value of being themselves as well as the importance of their voice and putting it out into the world.

This class will not have a recital.

Dramatic Youngsters children experience the joy of imaginative play through theater games, fairy tales, nursery rhymes, movement, music and singing. This exciting class offers children the opportunity to explore characters and stories through movement, voice and pretend play. Students will be encouraged and challenged to follow directions, learn active listening skills, participate in teamwork, and accept challenges while taking risks. As children progress through the classes they will develop confidence, individuality and social skills all while making friends and having fun. Dramatic Youngsters is designed for pre-school age children bearing in mind all levels of interest and ability.

Description

This exciting class offers children the opportunity to create characters and stories through movement, voice and pretend play.  Children experience the joy of imaginative play through theater games, fairy tales and nursery rhymes which leads to the staging of a children’s story. Students will be encouraged and challenged to follow directions, learn active listening skills, participate in teamwork, and accept challenges while taking risks.  Each student begins to recognize the importance of his/her individual voice and ideas.  As children progress through the classes they will develop confidence, individuality and social skills all while making friends and having fun.

Recital

The final 1/2 hour of class, June 1st at 10:00 am, will be a recital of the students work.
